WHAT IS DIRECT SELLING

Direct selling or direct marketing is one of the oldest, sucessfull & most traditionall form of selling and promoting a brand locally and globally. It is a method to involve a direct interaction between buyer and the seller. Today direct selling have become a sucessfull industry operating in over 100 countries with a market Capita  of USD 167 billion.

Direct selling refers to selling of products to the consumers who are very far away from traditional market or a retail outlet. The consumers generally get the products by relaxing in their homes or workplace. The  method of direct selling further works with the explanation and some demonstration of the products by the seller.

DIRECT SELLING IN INDIA

Present and modern direct selling can be considered to have been kick started in India in 1980s. The industry witnessed major growth post liberalisation with many global players entering the Indian market.  Oriflame is also one of the top player who entered in India in 1996.

Today direct selling market in India is estimated to be arround INR72 billion.

ADITIONAL INCOME OPPORTUNITIES IN DIRECT SELLING

Direct selling have a very unique power which provides an aditional income opportunities to a large number of people either a house wife, a businessmen, a student or a retired person. A study shows that currently over 5 million direct sellers are estimated to be engaged with the industry and this number is projected to grow further with the growth of the industry. The reason is that while entering this direct selling industry you have no boundations of any type. You are the boss of your own. You decide when and how much you want to work. You decide how much and how long you want to earn. In short we can say direct selling has the power to give you lifetime unlimited income, only your potential is needed.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

This Direct Selling method offers self employment opportunities to a large number of people, especially women. Direct selling gives women the flexibility to manage their time and balance their work and personal lives. A study shows that direct selling industry have provided self employment to 3.4 million female distributors. Many companies inluding ORIFLAME works towards the empowment of women.

Direct Selling is a dynamic and repidaly expanding channel of distribution for the marketing of products and services.While there is no universal definition of direct selling, different countries, associations and individuals have defined the sector differentally. It can be broadly understood as 'the selling of goods and services to the consumer away from the fixed retail outlet or a fixed market, generally in their homes, workplace, etc.

Direct sales generally benifit
from the explanation and demonstration of the products made by an independent direct sales person to the consumer.  Being a specialised channel of distribution, which is neither wholesale nor retail. It covers both business to business and business to consumer aspects.

Despite its diferrences, in many ways, direct selling is simillar to traditional consumer goods retail.

The distributors/direct seller, can earn a commission when the sale of products takes place.

Earning of sales comission may be based on one's own sales as well as on the cumulative sales of the group built by the seller, simillar to comissions in traditional sales environment.
